Awesome clouds

Lenticular Cloud

Credit: Peter Michaud/Gemini Observatory

This image of a "Lenticular" cloud is formed by winds over Mauna Kea mountain and is taken from Hilo on Hawaii. This classic formation is created by upper level winds forced over the mountain and "skipping" in the atmosphere. The formation lasted almost 24 hours.
